Illegal Immigrants Getting Paid More Than Our Veterans
New York City Mayor Eric Adams has been swamped with migrants needing food, shelter, transportation, and medical care – and his methods of dealing with the crisis have drawn all eyes to him. One of his newest initiatives – giving debit cards to illegal immigrants – is especially upsetting Americans. And now it seems that, under this program, the undocumented are getting more financial benefits than veterans.
The new debit card program began in March and gave ten border crossing families Immediate Response Cards preloaded with $350 per week for a family of four. The cards can be used at bodegas, supermarkets, and convenience and grocery stores. This is a pilot program that is expected to soon expand to 500 migrant families.
An average American family of four receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, gets $713 per month, according to Newsweek. However, a migrant family of four receives $1,400 per month. And when it comes to our military personnel, a veteran who has a 50% disability rating with a spouse and one child gets $1,255.16 per month, according to the Department of Veterans Affairs. When one more child under the age of 18 is added, the family gets another $51 per month for a total of $1,306.16 per 30 days, which is $100 less than an alien family on the new prepaid card program.
In December, Republican Councilwoman Vickie Paladino wrote an opt-ed in the New York Post, criticizing the Big Apple’s officials and how they’re handling the influx of migrants.
“In our New Yok City, we are currently staring down a multi-billion-dollar deficit while our streets are falling into disorder, our infrastructure crumbles, our social safety net is collapsing, and our frontline workers are stretched beyond their limits. We are spending more taxpayer money to care or foreign nationals than we are on the annual budgets of the NYPD, FDNY and Department of Sanitation, combined.”
Poll: Migrants Are to Blame for Border Wall Injuries
A Redfield & Wilton Strategies poll found that 49% of survey takers believe migrants are to blame for injuries they may receive while attempting to cross the border. The poll was conducted exclusively for Newsweek and surveyed 1,500 eligible US voters between March 23 and 24.
In California and Texas, hospitals have reported injuries caused by falls from the wall. A Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego spokesperson told the outlet that the injuries ranged from bone fractures to serious brain injuries. In March, 11 people were hurt in one day after falling from a section of the wall in California, and one woman died after falling from the wall near the San Ysidro Port of Entry. Twenty-nine Mexican nationals died last year while trying to cross into the San Diego region, and another 120 were injured.
“The 30-foot border wall that sits in certain areas of the U.S.-Mexico border makes it much more likely that someone falling will sustain these life-altering injuries,” Pedro Rios, director of the American Friends Service Committee’s U.S./Mexico border program told Newsweek. “To me, it just indicates that the expectation at that height would result in many more people falling and injuring themselves.”
The poll also found that 17% of those questioned said the federal government bears the most responsibility while 13% blamed the local governments in border states for migrants being injured. However, 65% agree that America is facing a migrant crisis and 54% support a border wall along the southern border. Unsurprisingly, 58% do not believe the US has control over the US-Mexico border.

Leonel Moreno, the migrant influencer who encouraged illegal immigrants to squat in American homes, is now facing potential federal firearms charges according to the New York Post. Although the exact charges being investigated are not known, The Post referred to sources who said, “they would likely be brought under a section of the Gun Control Act which prohibits those on parole from possessing, shipping, transporting or receiving firearms or ammunition.”
President Joe Biden has added a “third gender” option for migrants. The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced on Monday, April 1, that the administration had added “Another Gender Identity” as a “third gender option” which would be designated as “X” on naturalization application form for immigrants, according to American Military News. The outlet explained further:
“The USCIS explained that immigrant applicants will not need to ‘provide supporting documentation’ to select the third gender option. Additionally, the gender designated by the applicant on the naturalization paperwork will not be required to match the gender marked on an individual’s state identification, passport, or birth certificate.”
This newest move is part of Biden’s 2021 effort to make it easier for transgender migrants to make their way into America.
