Most Americans heaved a sigh of relief at the outcome of the 2024 election – and not just because of what will soon begin, but because of what has finally ended. The decisive victory by Donald Trump represents nothing less than the death knell for America’s progressive era. The country lost its mind in 2020 and is just now recovering its bearings. And, in the weeks since November 5, we have been reminded of what the American electorate overwhelmingly rejected, bearing witness to at least three prime examples of the rancid progressive ideology.
Exhibit A is the Daniel Penny verdict. Even in the heat of the George Floyd killing in 2020 and the violent, destructive mobs unleashed in its aftermath, Black Lives Matter (BLM) never went so far as to call for black vigilantism. But now they have. In the wake of Penny’s acquittal by a Manhattan jury for the melee that led to the death of deranged criminal Jordan Neely, who had been arrested more than 40 times, BLM honcho Hawk Newsome let loose with an explicitly racist, hate-filled diatribe that is bound to make New Yorkers, most of whom cheered the verdict, watch their backs.
“Just like everybody else seeks justice on their own. Just like everybody else has vigilantes. We need some black vigilantes,” Newsome thundered on the streets of New York. And then he went global, saying “F—k America … Racists: burn in hell.”
In blunt terms, Newsome declared that Neely was killed not because he threatened the lives of the numerous subway riders protected by Penny, but because he was black. This, despite the fact that the person who assisted Penny in pinning Neely to the floor was himself a black man. On top of that, the diverse men, women, and children who were terrified of Neely’s psychopathic behavior and declaration that “someone is going to die today” universally praised the Marine for stepping in and saving them. But none of that matters when a toxic provocateur representing BLM can use it to further his perverse sense of right and wrong.
Progressive Excuse for Murder
Exhibit B is an unconscionable statement by progressive Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), who you may remember for her phony Native American heritage and failed 2020 presidential campaign. Following the murder of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Warren said something that beggars belief, all but justifying the cold-blooded murder in an interview with the left-wing Huffington Post:
“The visceral response from people across this country who feel cheated, ripped off, and threatened by the vile practices of their insurance companies should be a warning to everyone in the health care system … Violence is never the answer, but [italics added] people can be pushed only so far … This is a warning that if you push people hard enough, they lose faith in the ability of their government to make change, lose faith in the ability of the people who are providing the health care to make change, and start to take matters into their own hands …”
Since the word “but” is designed to nullify the words that came before it, this can be viewed as nothing less than an incitement to further murderous behavior. And the mantle has been taken up by many in the very city where Thompson was murdered. “Wanted” posters targeting other healthcare executives have sprung up throughout the progressive metropolis of New York as it comes to grips with migrant crime, thanks to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ open border, and rampant lawlessness that has brought the city low.
Leftists Protecting Criminal Aliens
Exhibit C is the outspoken resistance to deporting criminal aliens by high-ranking elected officials. Throughout the 2024 presidential campaign, many were surprised or even shocked to learn though numerous surveys that a solid majority – up to 60% – of Americans are now in favor of the mass deportation of illegal immigrants. It is a far cry from 2016 when Trump’s warnings about illegal immigration produced just a small minority who viewed illegal border crossings as a serious problem. Of course, It’s no wonder the call for sending illegal aliens back to their countries of origin has grown so loud. Progressives in charge of sanctuary cities and states who once signaled their virtue without cost have now had their bluff called as they are forced to actually put their money where their mouth is. White, black, and brown citizens in reliably Democratic cities, particularly Chicago, are furious about their communities being overrun by the “undocumented” – many of whom have criminal records either here in the US, in their native countries, or both – who have been offered benefits once provided to them.
It is one thing to resist the roundup of illegal aliens at large. Many of them have been tax-paying members of stable communities. But it is quite another to fight the removal of criminal aliens, vocalized by Donald Trump and his designated Border Czar, Tom Homan, as their number one priority. Why would any mayor, governor, or ruling authority not want criminals removed from the midst of their communities? Well, Governors J.D. Pritzker of Illinois and Jared Polis of Colorado, Denver Mayor Mike Johnston, and the San Diego (CA) County Board of Supervisors (SDBS), among others, say they will refuse to cooperate with Homan and ICE even in the deportation of known criminals who threaten their states and communities.
Pritzker and Polis have launched a coalition entitled “Governors Safeguarding Democracy” designed to protect their states from Trump’s “increasing threats of autocracy and fortifying the institutions of democracy that our country and our states depend on.” Both have refused to exempt criminal aliens from their self-declared protective custody. Pritzker claims other governors have joined up but refuses to name them. Mayor Johnston vowed to form a virtual posse to resist ICE agents, with even the left-leaning Denver Post taking him to task with an editorial headlined: “Denver’s mayor was wrong to threaten armed conflict to protect immigrants.” SDBS has gone ever further, declaring itself a “super sanctuary county.” Nora Vargas, SDBS Chairwomen, said: “Our county will not be a tool for policies that hurt our residents.” Note how she employs the word “residents” instead of “citizens.”
These ugly episodes and defiant government officials represent the dying embers of a shameful era in American history, when BLM and its guilt-ridden, mostly white progressive collaborators forced innocent Americans to bow to them, admit their white privilege in a systemically racist society, and bend the knee to their radical “anti-racist” agenda. With Sen. Warren refusing to condemn a murder in broad daylight and recalcitrant officeholders refusing to protect their constituents while promising to stand in the way of the clearly expressed will of the American people, it’s no wonder Democrats were so thoroughly rejected by Americans of all races, creeds, and colors. The scourge of progressivism cannot end soon enough.
