Sheltering in place is an aggravating edict for Americans living in flyover states. It’s prom season: cancelled. Happy virtual graduation, grandson; sorry there’s no pomp and circumstance. And please, wash your damn hands till all that is left are bloody nubs to deliver your sweet elderly mom flowers on Mother’s Day. It’s simply an excruciating time. As lockdown has been further extended, folks are spending an amazing amount of time on the internet, getting into partisan fights or sharing funny dog videos. There is no in between under COVID-19.
The Tool
Sparking the wrath of the heartlanders, one critic of the Trump administration made a ridiculous statement this week. Dan Froomkin of the radical left Press Watch – which is under the banner of Salon, if that doesn’t scream Trump hater – was absolutely unnerved at the president’s all-time-high approval ratings and went a bit cray-cray:
“More often than not, mainstream reporting on even the most incoherent and contradictory Trump briefing consists of cherry-picking quotes that make him sound coherent, and in no way whatsoever indicate the true nature of the lunacy … broadcast networks shouldn’t break into regular programming to show the briefings live anymore. Watching them, unfiltered, makes their viewers dumber and less safe.”
Imagine the comments this man is getting from the not-so-silent majority. Jessica Coleen in Clinton, IA turned Froomkin’s argument into a tool against his beloved radical left media. “Umm, this is why people don’t trust the MSM in print, online, cable, or the networks,” she wrote. “You should report it without prejudice or propaganda … the networks should always break into coverage for any president.”
Claudia Wanberg Wolsky up in Fargo, ND, was not impressed with Froomkin either: “Oh good grief, those of us with working brains approve of the job the administration and President Trump are doing because we are paying attention to what they are actually doing and saying and not paying attention to the media.”
Biden Tests Negative – Just Not for COVID-19
The pollsters at Gallup released the latest survey on Trump’s job approval ratings, showing they peaked at 49%. During one of former Vice President Joe Biden’s phone it in campaign briefings, a reporter asked him if he knew of the president’s increased popularity. He replied that only Trump’s handling of COVID-19 was impressive and that overall the president’s rating was much lower. The reporter schooled him with her reply: “The 49% is overall job performance,” and then asked if the rapidly blinking Biden wanted to correct his assessment.
He did: “I hope that he’s so strong he’s up way above that because we need the help now.”
“This is the Presidential candidate offered up to the Alter of the ‘All Inclusive’ Social Justice Feel-Good thoughtless emotion,” Arthur Mitchell of Chicago observed. “Democrat Liberal Socialist Leftists do not believe that the most qualified person should be selected for a job. It’s all about Race, Gender and Skin color. They had their Black President, they lost on their ‘Woman’ president and now they want the Idiot quota fulfilled.”
A kinder commenter from the Buckeye State, Todd Mitchell, offered this in response to the nearly vacant look in the former vice president’s eyes: “This is truly a sad spectacle. The man clearly has dementia. Someone needs to step in and stop this madness. He is like a punch-drunk boxer. He doesn’t even know where he is.”
“I’m beginning to suspect Biden is not their candidate,” said Pat Helsley from Pine City, MN. “There will be a brokered convention and that is where their true candidate will surface.”
Yeah, the Boomer Rubes in Middle America have the antics of the Democrats figured out. So, amidst the state issued quarantines, home-schooling parents losing their collective minds, and bars and restaurants closing, the dreaded pandemic is turning the world upside down. But the nation’s vision is 2020 – and crystal clear.
