The US Senate released the text of its proposed border bill on Sunday, February 4. This document has been called “must-pass” legislation by the White House, which has been deeply involved in trying to get a deal on the table. At issue is that the vast majority of the cash in the bill goes to either Ukraine or Israel, with only a proportion going to actual border security for the United States. A number of high-profile Republicans have already declared the bill essentially dead on arrival.
