Let’s get our stories straight here. Let’s figure out just how this should go down.
First, we will immediately label the President’s temporary ban on immigration from 14% of the world’s Muslim nations a “Muslim Ban,” That should get everyone’s attention.
Then, we’ll fire up that George Soros cash machine to hire pay-for-play rent-a-mobs to flood the zone in airports across the country so the media will be forced to cover this organic outrage.
Then, we’ll trot out Sen. Schumer to emote. He will state that this is so unfair, so cruel, so heartbreaking, and then be reduced to tears.
We’ll await the inevitable statements from those two Senators as camera-hungry as Schumer, the reliably useful idiots John McCain and Lindsey Graham, so they can do what they do best – criticize a fellow Republican. The establishment media will, as always, eat it up.
Finally, we’ll get the Obama holdover keeping the seat warm for Jeff Sessions at the office of the U.S. Attorney General to grandstand to the max – she’ll take the virtually unprecedented step of defying the legal orders of her boss, the President. She’ll certainly be fired and then become a martyr for the far left, the victim of a “Monday Night Massacre” with echoes of Richard Nixon and Watergate. And she’ll do so willingly – such a good career move for the previously obscure Sally Yates.
This was the plan – the three part harmony of the left, the elite media and the political establishment. Otherwise known as the anti-Trump coalition.
Of course, there’s a little problem with the actions of Ms. Yates: there is no viable argument to be made against the legality of President Trump’s executive order.
Under this law passed in 1952, a president is permitted to suspend the entry of “any class of aliens” the president deems a threat to the interests of the country. To suggest the succession of atrocities committed in this country by foreign-born (or even U.S.- born) terrorists aligned with or inspired by Islamo-fascist extremist organizations such as ISIS does not threaten the nation’s interests is to bury one’s head deep in the sand.
Even as they tie themselves in knots arguing against this executive order, left wing scholars are forced to admit – or refuse to mention – that the order is entirely within the bounds of a president’s authority. So they persist in confusing the public by making their argument on the basis of pure morality. Their morality. A morality that, like everything else on the left, is not subject to opinion or discussion, not to mention debate.
The White House declared that Ms. Yates “has betrayed the Department of Justice by refusing to enforce a legal order designed to protect the citizens of the United States,” but never mind that. She stood up for principle.
What principle, you say? Why, it’s the principle of unyielding opposition to anything this president does which can be effectively distorted to make Trump look like a troglodyte. And with the establishment media serving as their propaganda arm, they have no shortage of weapons or ammunition.
But if they think this president will fold like the cheap tent that has largely defined their Republican opposition over the years, they are sadly mistaken. They are about to learn, if they haven’t already, that there is finally a Republican who sits in the oval office who will truly say what he means, mean what he says, and take no prisoners.
Oh well, at least the Democrat left did create a new martyr for the cause. Sally Yates will undoubtedly be venerated by the irreligious left as Mother Teresa is among Christians. But that’s pretty thin gruel for a once-dominant party that is now circling the drain.
