Amid harsh criticism, President Joe Biden winged his way west – not to comfort and reassure the people of Maui, but to relax at Lake Tahoe, where he’ll most likely nap in the mountain air. It’s his second vacation this month. There are no official events listed for the presidential entourage, but the Nevada side of the lake and the Hyatt Regency in Incline Village – locally known as “Billionaires Row” – are prepared for the demands of the Biden Bunch. This excursion will add to the 365 vacation days he has taken to date while in office, and for those who enjoy math, that amounts to just over 40% of his time as president.
He’s taken an entire year off, and the progressives have quietly taken over in his absence. Is it any wonder this country is suffering?
Biden Mantra: Some Beach, Somewhere
He disappeared after the East Palestine, OH, train derailment forced 5,000 Americans out of their homes. Biden sat on the beach in Delaware as the US attempted the worst military withdrawal ever in Afghanistan. The leader of the free world will visit Ukraine and send billions in aid, but only after extreme public and media pressure has he finally agreed to go to Lahaina to see complete devastation up close – and only after flippantly dismissing reporters while on vacation at the beach in Delaware. His snippy “no comment” when asked if he would head to the Pacific Island to render assurances of federal assistance had the usually fawning media bristling.
Sorry to put you out, Joe; Maui is suffering hundreds of casualties and, so far, $5.6 billion in damages. Nap later.
After much backlash, Biden now says he will head to Lahaina, the small residential area of 12,000 folks decimated in the fires, on Monday. While in Hawaii, perhaps Joe could ask the local hotels to house some of the victims and not charge the normal $500 per night rate. If it’s good enough for illegal aliens, surely it’s good enough for Americans displaced by fire. But who knows what Joe has in mind? As one displaced survivor, Felicia Johnson, told the BBC: “Everybody wants the glory, but nobody wants to put their feet on the ground.”
Remarkably, the town in which Mr. President chose to relax had no idea what they should be doing to prepare for the first couple. The chair of the Democratic Party of Washoe County, Carissa Snedeker, had not heard a peep out of the White House about visits or possible events. “Presidential schedules are closely guarded and often change on a dime, so this is not surprising to me,” Snedeker said.

Ironically, Lake Tahoe is listed in Fodor’s travel guides 2023 as a place tourists should not visit because too much traffic threatens the environment. “The [guide] article is pretty much saying, ‘Hey, nature needs a break,’” said Andy Chapman, CEO of Travel North Tahoe Nevada. “We align with that.”
Is this a warning for everyone, or everyone except the president? Where are the climate change protesters: Shouldn’t they be on the tarmac already?
C’mon, Man, Do Your Job
A year of vacation amid the historic crime rates, inflation, interest rates, and 36% favorability rate. How does Mr. Biden align his hubris with the reality this nation faces? Maui has been devastated. Illegal immigrants have taken precedence in welfare over American citizens. The chemical remnants of toxic spills still hang in the Ohio air, and the military is the world’s laughingstock of woke policy. Mr. Biden has not earned a one-year-plus vacation. America needs a full-time president.
