It could be the biggest White House scandal in American history. A bungled break-in at the Watergate Hotel in 1972? For many Americans, that event is barely in the same league of nefarious plots as the financial payments from foreign businesses to a web of Biden family shell companies. Despite the best attempts by the establishment media to tell Americans to move along, nothing to see here, a recent Rasmussen poll revealed that a majority of US voters believe the Bidens cashed in on Hunter Biden’s convoluted business activities and that Joe himself took a share of the loot.
A Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey, conducted on May 8-10, asked three questions related to the Biden family financial dealings. Of the 982 “US Likely Voters” who took part, 69% said the allegations about payments to the Bidens amount to a serious scandal. The exact question that produced this result was: “How serious of a scandal are the accusations of foreign influence peddling by Joe Biden and his family?” Only 15% of respondents thought the issue was “not at all serious,” while 52% asserted that it was “very serious.”
Biden Family Under Suspicion
Another question was: “Do you agree or disagree with this statement: The Hunter Biden scandal ‘is not just about the president’s son. This is about the entire Biden family, including the president of the United States’?” House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) made that statement to Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo on May 7. Again, most participants in the Rasmussen survey, 66%, agreed with the claim. Only 18% “strongly disagree,” while 51% “strongly agree.” Predictably, most participants who identified as Republican agreed with Comer’s statement at least somewhat, as did 43% of Democrats. What should be of concern to the Democratic Party, though, is that 72% of unaffiliated voters believed, to one degree or another, that Comer is on to something. The remaining question related to Biden family financial activities was:
“Congressional investigators say they have obtained documents ‘that would implicate Joe Biden in a pay-for-play scheme, in trying to set up a deal to receive funds to [him] and his family, in exchange for foreign policy decisions’ when Biden was vice president. How likely is it that Joe Biden personally profited from such a deal?”
Most of the survey-takers, 63%, believe it is at least somewhat likely that Joe Biden personally profited from this alleged “pay-for-play” scheme. Most Republicans (85%), most unaffiliated voters (65%), and even a significant percentage of Democrats (44%) agreed that Joe Biden probably took a cut of the money.
Political affiliation aside, the numbers weren’t on Biden’s side for any demographic. Rasmussen reveals that among men, women, blacks, and whites, a majority of each group concurred that the Biden family scandal was at least somewhat serious.
Ever eager to protect Joe Biden, the left-wing media are reporting the whole affair as a series of unfounded and politically motivated accusations by Republicans. On May 10, The New York Times even went as far as publishing an article under the title “House Republican Report Finds No Evidence of Wrongdoing by President Biden.” The report claimed there was no “proof” of misconduct. Technically, that might be true, though neither the Gray Lady nor any other establishment news outlet required proof when it promoted the now thoroughly debunked Donald Trump-Russia conspiracy theory. Nor did it need proof that the infamous laptop belonging to Hunter Biden was actually a Russian disinformation operation – yet the pro-Democrat media repeated that inaccurate claim as often as they could.
Meanwhile, House Republicans have amassed a considerable amount of evidence against the Biden family; so much, in fact, that it is becoming almost impossible to believe that Joe Biden himself had no knowledge of any of it.
