Media Emperor Soros Secures Major Polish Purchase

Eastern Europe the next frontier in globalist media control.

The nation-meddling of George Soros extends far beyond America. The notorious progressive globalist billionaire is adding to his already outsized media influence with a major purchase in Poland. As war continues to rage in neighboring Ukraine, the geopolitical impact of Soros seizing greater control of major Polish media outlets cannot be underestimated for its impact back home in the US. Especially when one of the supporting actors in this Fourth Estate power grab is Biden administration Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

“A company backed by the Soros Economic Development Fund has taken control of two major Polish newspapers, raising concerns over far-left media bias due to the billionaire oligarch’s progressive politics,” Remix News reported Aug. 28. “The Polish owner of the daily Rzeczpospolita and the financial daily Parkiet, Grzegorz Hajdarowicz, has sold a large proportion of his shares in Gremi Media, which owns the two papers, to the Dutch company Pluralis. This completes a deal struck in 2021 that saw Pluralis buy a minority stake with the option to buy extra shares later.

“As a result, Hajdarowicz has ceased to be the majority shareholder in Gremi Media, with the Dutch company Pluralis now owning 57 percent of the shares, which has allowed it to take control of the company.”

I Dominate in the Name of Pluralism

The news site Notes From Poland reported on the first stirrings of Soros’ foray in a January 2022 article that exposed the menacing nature of Pluralis. The venture has all the hallmarks of canned media so familiar to Americans today. NFP noted:

“Pluralis was launched in November [2021] as a coalition of European media companies, foundations and investors with the aim of ‘supporting plurality of news across Europe.’ It is controlled by a consortium of shareholders including the King Baudouin Foundation (28.46%), Mediahuis (25.39%) and the Soros Economic Development Fund (17.41%).

“It is managed by [the Media Development Investment Fund], which also owns a 2.02% stake. MDIF, which is funded among others by Soros’s Open Society Foundations, has also invested in Poland’s Radio Zet and Agora. The latter owns Gazeta Wyborcza, Poland’s leading non-tabloid daily and a strong critic of the current national-conservative government.”

Those not entirely numbed by the lockstep nature of big-box Western media outlets today should easily grasp the threat posed by an alleged “plurality of news” owned by elitist entities. Soros is attempting to monopolize information on an international level.

Fighting Nationalism ‘on Both Sides of the Atlantic’

In an Aug. 31 op-ed for establishment media mouthpiece Politico Europe, Alexander Soros, son and chosen heir to the Open Society Foundations (OSF) empire, restated the organization’s determination to be a major player in Europe, specifically citing the importance of Poland.

“In broad terms, in Europe we are witnessing a shift to the east,” young Soros wrote. “The war in Ukraine will have untold consequences, while the rise of Poland as a leading economy will eventually make it a net contributor to the [European Union]. The future of accountable, democratic government in Europe is now being determined not just in Paris and Berlin but also in Warsaw, Kyiv and Prague.”

Alex Soros could not be more blunt in detailing how OSF operations in other nations can have a profound effect on American politics.

“As someone who spends up to half their time working on the Continent and thinks former United States President Donald Trump – or at least someone with his isolationist and anti-European policies – will be the Republican nominee, I believe a MAGA-style Republican victory in next year’s US presidential election could, in the end, be worse for the EU than for the US,” he asserted. “Such an outcome will imperil European unity and undermine the progress achieved on many fronts in response to the war in Ukraine. We are adapting OSF to be able to respond to whatever scenarios might emerge, on both sides of the Atlantic.”

In other words, all this is part of one common globalist thread. Media purchases in Poland can be used to wage political war against nationalists everywhere, including in America. Hyperbole?

“[George] Soros, who has long championed democratic causes in the former communist eastern bloc, backs independent media that is coming under assault from nationalist and populist political forces,” a pro-Soros November 2021 article at Bloomberg News said of his Polish campaign.

Blinken Backs ‘Investment’ in Poland

And just what does Antony Blinken have to do with all this? The Biden Cabinet official, whose father was a close personal friend of George Soros, injected himself into the Polish media landscape in August 2021 by declaring that the sovereign nation of Poland had no right to attempt to prevent foreign control of its major media outlets.

Blinken neatly illustrates the power of Soros to manipulate world events. First, the Soros-funded NGO Human Rights Watch publicly decried a bill passed in Poland’s legislature:

“Poland’s lower house unleashed a major threat to media pluralism on August 11, approving a bill that prevents non-European shareholders from owning a majority stake in Polish media companies. While the government has argued it needs to strengthen legislation to prevent Chinese and Russian companies from controlling Polish media outlets, the impact of the law in practice would be on independent station TVN and its 24-hour news station, TVN24. TVN’s majority stake holder is US media company Discovery.”

Note that Human Rights Watch used the term “pluralism,” remarkably similar to Pluralis. Blinken then duly seized on this to denounce the legislation in his official role as secretary of state:

“The United States is also deeply troubled by draft legislation passed today by the lower house of the Polish parliament that targets the most watched independent news station, which is also one of the largest US investments in the country. Poland has worked for decades to foster a vibrant and free media. This draft legislation would significantly weaken the media environment the Polish people have worked so long to build. A free and independent media makes our democracies stronger, the Transatlantic Alliance more resilient, and is fundamental to the bilateral relationship. Large US commercial investments in Poland tie our prosperity together and enhance our collective security. This draft legislation threatens media freedom and could undermine Poland’s strong investment climate.”

Discovery is owned by Warner Bros. The notion that American citizens need to automatically support the “right” of a behemoth US-based multinational mass media conglomerate to own one of Poland’s biggest broadcasters in the ill-defined name of “democracy” is as ludicrous as thinking George Soros’ massive wealth is being spent in support of true media pluralism.
