Editor’s Note: From the Back Forty is Liberty Nation’s longest running and most popular weekly column.
From the Back Forty folks are none too pleased with the current administration’s actions in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, which created a swath of death and destruction from Florida to the coast of North Carolina. But the American spirit has once again been empowered. Since the Swamp doesn’t seem focused on the disaster zone, heartlanders are deploying whatever resources they must to help their neighbors.
In other news, no one has seen President Joe Biden for a bit, and aides are beginning to suggest he is failing fast.
American Spirit vs Helene and Harris
Jordan Lanning, a resident of Asheville, North Carolina, went on the Fox News program “Jesse Watters Primetime” and let fly just how those impacted with tragic losses feel their government is – or is not – prioritizing after Hurricane Helene.
“It’s too late. I mean, they took too long. It took them five days to get here. And it took five days for Biden to come here. And he didn’t think we were worth coming down to see him, us, himself,” Lanning told Watters. “He had to fly over on his way to Raleigh. It’s disgraceful. I mean, they keep saying we the people. No, there is no we, the people. It’s them versus us. So, they’re not for us. It’s all about them. They tell us what we need instead of listening to us.”
The federal government has offered a one-time $750 payment for essentials such as food and baby formula to Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia residents.
The lack of FEMA help has propelled Americans to do what they do best: roll up their sleeves and get the job done without the red tape of the federal government. One of our military friends commented: “We all have the GSD degree. You know, Get S— Done.”
Gary Blakesley, a retired Navy Lieutenant and childhood friend of this writer, said he has joined up with his veteran and first responder buddies at Sheep Dog Impact Assistance (SDIA) – a national non-profit based out of Rodgers, Arkansas. The group is heading to Asheville for its second deployment in a matter of days, having just been of aid in Florida. Trailers loaded with water, construction supplies, tarps, and heaps of donated clothing and personal items are en route. Just like so many other organizations that understand the need is immediate – not when the power comes back on to cash a $750 check.
Liberty Nation News spoke with John Parker, Marketing Manager of SDIA, asking how bad it is and why he’s doing it. Parker did not hesitate: “We were all serving again, just in a new uniform.” The 20-year Navy vet continued:
“From the moment I saw Hurricane Helene make landfall, I began packing my bags. As veterans, we are all looking for ways to help. Seeing a family smile as we tarped their roof or clearing down trees, keeping them trapped inside. We had people walking up to say, ‘God Bless you’ and not asking for a thing. We made a commitment to serve and protect this country once, and for most of us, it’s a lifetime commitment.”
Parker will celebrate his 50th birthday in Asheville, doing what he signed up to do all those years ago. Once a sheepdog, always a sheepdog.
Also on site are several animal rescue organizations removing pets from dangerous flood areas. Livestock trailers haul farm animals into relocation areas. Church groups around the Heartland gather clothes, small appliances, and cash, joining caravans south and east to assist. Some ask why we need FEMA in the first place if it spends all its budget on giving illegal immigrants the lap of luxury for months on the taxpayer dime. And Americans can confirm that, as Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has repeated, the $1 Billion spent on migrant assistance has left their coffers bone dry.
“How would you feel as a voter knowing our government is helping Migrants over the needs of thousands who have lost Everything?” asked Dave Hill in Boise, ID. “Think about It.”
From the Back Forty would like to applaud Sheep Dog Impact Assistance, our first responders, rescue volunteers, and faith-based organizations for stepping up and never leaving an American behind.
Where Did Jill and Joe Go?
No one has seen Joe Biden for a while, although some say he is working a couple of hours each day. Biden dropped out of the race on July 21 and retreated to a lengthy beach vacation in Rehoboth, DE. He’s back in the House, but Biden’s schedule does not reflect the crazy current condition of the country.
In 75 days, he’s had 43 things on his schedule. According to Axios, only two of those events “were scheduled before 11 am, zero before 10 am and only five after 5 pm.”
Also off the stage is first lady Jill Biden, who has decided not to be involved in Harris campaign events. Yet the mantra remains that Joe is fine as a frog’s hair. White House spokesperson Andrew Bates insists: “Being commander-in-chief is about far more than public events, which are scheduled at strategic times to reach the most Americans possible, like before 20 million Americans watch the national evening news.”
Bates also keeps toeing the party line that Joe is lapping everyone in the West Wing with his fast pace, claiming the 81-year-old “works around the clock, long before and after these times, as the historic results he continues to achieve weekly for the American people demonstrate.”
Surrounded by friends and allies, Biden appeared confused and lost track of events during a press conference with India’s prime minister. He was supposed to introduce Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “I want to thank you all for being here,” Biden said. “Now, who am I introducing next?” Hmm. “Who’s next?” he bellowed, followed by several seconds of silence – the uncomfortable kind. The announcer ended up doing the introduction.
This came on the heels of allowing first lady Jill Biden to run a cabinet meeting on Friday.
Bob Ault of Little River, SC, posted an emoji face-palm and asked: “Where have these so-called Aides been the past 3 + years – they better get Hunter’s pardon ready while he can still scribble his name.” Stacy Miguez McGraw stated in Fort Worth, TX: “Here it comes. Install Kamala now.”
