Flyover Folk Raise a Stink Over Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot

Lori Lightfoot’s indifference illustrates a new meaning behind her city’s skunkland moniker.

Editor’s Note: While the media and other leftist elites ignore the millions of folks living in “flyover” states, they do so at their own peril; it was this silent majority that put President Trump in the White House. Each week, Liberty Nation gives voice to the hard-working heartlanders who are silent no more.

This week, the Windy City is all heartlanders can talk about as they hold their collective noses at the arrogance and indifference of Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot. Indifference toward children dying in the streets. Indifference towards black lives lost because of mob rule as other blacks committed crimes for a cause.

Flyover folks who pay attention to Chicago stats were finally ruffled enough to snark at one another candidly on social media. And no one held back after reading these stats that Leesa K. Donner, Editor-in-Chief at Liberty Nation, took time to compile and publish:

“For the calendar year 2020, shootings in the Democrat-run city are up 46%, and homicides have risen 48%. As of July 19, 402 murders have been recorded. To make matters worse, children are dying at a heartbreaking rate. Just since Memorial Day, 111 kids ages 12-17 have been murdered, and another 20 under the age of 11 have been killed.”

But the arrogance exhibited by the mayor – who only this week finally relented in accepting federal support – in light of bloodletting on her streets is what makes the blood boil in middle America. Folks believe she is more comfortable with 111 dead children in a little less than six weeks than accepting help from the president without attaching a string of conditions and threats.

Chicago peeps had quite a bit to say about the reluctant mayor.

Citing the latest incident of folks being gunned down as family members attended a funeral service, Antonio Coleman gave a lesson in Chicago violence:

“I grew up in South Shore, and unfortunately this is normal for GANG Funerals. I feel horrible for any innocent person that was affect[ed] but this has been going on forever and you know the risk involved with attending because of who the deceased may have been or who rival gangs knew would be attending. This is not new. It’s just getting televised now.”

Chicago street violence is nothing new but since BLM has called for defunding the police in nearly every major metropolitan area, Lightfoot is, well, tippy-toeing around in the protected hallways of City Hall. She wants news coverage.

Also a Windy City native, Angie Moore flat-out stated: “Black lives don’t matter to black people…No one cares when black on black crimes occur, no one riots and acts a fool when blacks kill blacks….black lives only matter when the opposite race kills a black person.”

Others worried why social workers, instated to replace the defunded cops, did not talk the fools down who were spraying bullets in an aimless arc. Are they not the people to handle the violence? Frank Zaccaro thought so: “A truly gifted social worker could have stopped the shooting with their words.”

Union man Steve Cudd couldn’t figure out why black funerals weren’t a good place to have BLM folks lined up: “Where’s BLACK LIVES MATTER? Where are the protestors?”

Time for Lori Lightfoot to pay attention to the folks in her microcosm, because they ain’t happy.
