For the establishment media, the only good news is whatever slant can make conservatives and President Donald Trump look bad. The only reportable news, to them, is hype, slander and conspiracies. Case in point: Where were the stories on Democrats denouncing the tax reform and its instant benefits to the working class?
Nancy Pelosi (D-San Francisco) was quick to insult the Republican tax reform, calling it an Armageddon for the middle-class workers. At least three million Americans have received a bonus anywhere from $1,000 to $3,000, which Pelosi called “crumbs” and “insignificant.” This is coming from one of the wealthiest members of Congress.
To Pelosi, whose net worth is a measly $29.3 million, $1,000 probably does seem like a drop in the proverbial barrel. But, to the average American, that’s some cool cash. That money could help pay off bills, buy school clothes for their children, make some needed repairs around the house, or even take the family on vacation.
Roadblocks
Democrats are so busy trying to put up a roadblock against Trump at every intersection, they’ve lost touch with the people. The left has been taxing us to death, all in the name of making improvements, but nothing has been done to help make up for the income loss we experience. Yes, they’ve increased the minimum wage, but that has caused more problems than the left anticipated – or perhaps they were well aware of what would happen but chose to ignore it. As LN’s Andrew Moran reported:
Despite initial jubilation and promises of zero unintended consequences by politicians, the market is reacting swiftly with job cuts, price hikes, and benefit clawbacks. This, of course, has prompted upset unions and angry liberal protesters to initiate demonstrations, accusing businesses of being nothing more than evil capitalists – monocle and all.
LN’s Onar Am also covered the wage increase debacle, saying:
Due to these dramatic changes in the labor market, the average low-wage worker lost $125 per month in income. The data could hardly be more damning. The effect of the minimum wage hike was the exact opposite of what the politicians intended.
The Democrats stand with arms stubbornly folded across their chests as they defend their actions, claiming it will take time to reap the benefits. Yet, when it comes to the tax reform, they howl to the moon at the injustice of it all; even though it has shown a benefit to the middle class right from the get-go. Where is the staunch support and patience to give the reform a breathing chance to prove or disprove itself?
Blind to Reality
The establishment media, meanwhile, toss blankets over the left’s heads, hoping to shield the rest of America from the liberals’ floundering attempts to understand why the American working-class approves of such a reform. They are so blinded by their own pride and sense of injustice, they cannot see or admit when something the president does is beneficial. It makes one wonder, if Trump found a cure for cancer, would the left immediately claim it was all a ploy to pad the pockets of pharmacies and drug manufacturers?
To Pelosi and other naysayers: Yes, $1,000 may be a mere pittance to you, but to most Americans, it means a great deal more. While you stand on your lofty $29 million towers looking down on us plebs, calling our rewards and bonuses “insignificant crumbs,” while you drink your 100-year-old scotch and nibble on caviar, you can bet the people will remember who offered them better pay and jobs, and who scoffed at it – regardless of the mainstream media’s attempt to hide your actions.
