The Democratic Party is heading at breakneck speed down a rabbit hole of their own making — a spectacle that would have Lewis Carroll rising from the grave and frantically scribbling to add yet another tome of Alice’s adventures replete with a new cast of insane, almost life-like, characters.
This story of destruction began as citizens went to the polls to elect the president of the United States. It was a shining moment in the expansion of acceptance, pride, and accomplishment of a nation that left the past of Jim Crow laws in the rearview mirror, as we collectively roared into the future.
Until President Barack Obama in his Chuck’s-clad feet stomped the brake pedal, sending a careening vehicle into the 1950s once again. Yes, the state the Democratic Party today is a direct result of number 44 and his divisive, hate-driven two-term presidency.
IDENTITY POLITICS
“There’s not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America; there’s the United States of America.”
Remember those inspiring words uttered by then-Senator Obama at the 2004 Democratic Convention? It was the best set-up ever in the conning of America, and as he was sworn in as president four short years later, few foresaw his efficiency at poisoning the well.
Obama’s incitement of gender and racial victimization is well recorded by his words to different audiences as he repeatedly played to whichever minority was listening. A glaring example of inciting division is evident when in a 2010 radio interview with Univision, he pandered to Hispanics, saying “we’re gonna punish our enemies and we’re gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us.”
Enemies. A term once reserved for those international entities who wished to do America harm, is now in use to describe fellow citizens who may have a different opinion.
Obama would spend eight years reciting the same mantra with every “identified” non-white subgroup — Asians, Hispanics, Blacks and Native Americans, but his intentions were made irrevocably clear during his 2009 address in Cairo, Egypt. Former ambassador Charles Crawford summed up the general message of this speech in a clinical dissection on Punditwire, saying:
“Under my restrained leadership the United States will respect and accept conservative forms of Islam. Even if Islamism gets too aggressive we don’t plan to do much about it. And we may not be too active in supporting Muslim liberal trends either. Steady as she goes. And btw I do hope you have noticed that I am not G.W. Bush.”
And the Silent Majority from the Appalachians to the Rockies, Montana to Texas, can still hear the deafening applause on both coasts by a fractured nation, and the feeling of cold fear that America was in the worst kind of trouble.
The delicate dance between the white and black people of this country was under new choreography, and although injurious to both groups, the Obama effect on black Americans left them adrift, angry, and afraid. Black votes are now so much less relevant to Democratic victory as the Hispanic population has exploded and is courted en masse by all political entities on both sides of the aisle.
When then-candidate Trump invited black people to join him in Making America Great Again, he spoke straight to the heart of the matter saying, “You live in poverty, your schools are no good, you have no jobs. What do you have to lose?”
They were the victims of Obama, and they had everything to gain by taking that leap of faith.
INCIVILITY AND THE VIOLENT LEFT
Increasing the departure of registered Democrats is the dramatic uptick in calls for violence against conservatives. Not from the fringes of society: from mainstream liberals and politicians.
The women’s march in the nation’s capital was a parade of celebrities donning “pussy hats” while calling for the destruction of the newly, and duly, elected president. Madonna, a pop star from the 1980s and 90s, wanted “to blow up the White House.” The crowd erupted with cheers.
Celebrities have called for President Trump’s assassination, Barron Trump’s kidnapping by pedophiles, referred to Ivanka in the most disgusting of terms, and all have been rewarded by a dwindling, yet no less loud, sycophantic following.
And the Maddest Hatter of them all, Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) who recently called for violence against all Cabinet members, staffers, and supporters of President Trump saying:
“If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.”
Yes, my friends on the left, this is also driving the good people of America away from helping Democrats win in any election. Ah, those crazy unintended consequences are a certainly a show stopper this election cycle.
WHAT MESSAGE?
Above all else, the Democrats led with the message, “I’m with her,” without having one iota of a clue as to where they were going, although it appears they were all nestled snugly in the proverbial handbasket. The Republicans ran with “Make America Great Again” and it spoke volumes to disenfranchised middle Americans who had all but given in to the beatings from the Clinton-Bush-Obama-eras.
The Democrats still have no message or plan to unify the party after the DNC sidelined the Independent populist, Senator Bernie Sanders. The “Bernie Bros” still reel from the rug being pulled out from under “Bern” and have dissed the Dems like millions of stubborn mules are wont to do. With Sanders’ treatment, progressives and American socialists left in droves to recruit their guy once more or find a newer, fresher, less sissified version of their hero.
Perhaps the implosion of the Democratic Party will be as refreshing to those who rebel against the elite as Trump’s rise to power was to the Republicans. But we can see the effect of Obama’s legacy which should have furthered Dr. Martin Luther King’s dream that everyone would be judged, “Not by the color of his skin but the content of character.” Obama cultivated hate so well, his destruction of the Democratic Party is almost complete. Maybe Mad Max isn’t the maddest hatter after all.
