When special counsel Robert Mueller’s final report is made public, how many will read it? How many Americans will read parts of it, let alone the entire thing, which is rumored to be around 300 pages in length? Sadly, the answer to both these questions is: very few. Without a doubt, folks on both political sides will take to social media to opine on the report, pretending that they did read it, even though they did not.
The media knows this and so do the Democrats in Congress, which is why these two groups of Trump Derangement Syndrome victims are already working together to craft an entirely dishonest conspiracy theory, which goes something like this: Attorney General William Barr tried to pull the wool over the American people’s eyes by providing Congress with only his personal version of Mueller’s findings. Conspiring with the president to conceal the damning evidence of collusion and obstruction of justice contained in the report, Barr gave Congress only a four-page letter, in which he clears Trump of any wrongdoing.
Most Americans did not even read Barr’s letter, of course, and so the leftist legacy media finds it easy to misrepresent even what it says. Democrats and their pseudo-journalist acolytes will use this conspiracy theory to advance their quest to remove President Donald Trump from office before November 2020. Though they will not succeed, these tricksters will win over millions of Americans because the only way their version of events can be exposed as fraudulent is if millions of Americans actually read the whole report for themselves – and that is just not going to happen.
A Prime Example of Deception From CNN
Let us take, for example, an article published on the CNN website March 29. Written by Zachary B. Wolf, the article’s title is: “The Mueller report is more than 300 pages long. We’ve seen 101 words.” The cover-up conspiracy theory is implied in this headline. It is a commonly-used ruse among reporters and political pundits, these days; they know that many social media devotees will form their opinions based only on a headline without even reading the article.
This headline screams “Outrage!” and suggests that revealing a paltry 101 words of a 300-page report is proof that Americans are being deceived. Never mind that the Attorney General has committed to releasing the full report once it has been scrubbed of grand jury testimony and classified information. Never mind that the president himself has made it clear he has no objection to the report being made public.
The first line of the CNN article reads: “When people can’t see things, conspiracy theories fester.” Spot on, Zachary, though you could just as accurately have written: “When people can’t be bothered to read original documents for themselves, conspiracy theories fester,” which is exactly what CNN and the rest of the leftist media are counting on.
The article does, in fact, point out that the Justice Department is scrubbing the full report prior to its release, but remember: The bulk of Americans getting their news and opinion from social media will not read that part because the headline is all they will look at.
Wolf suggests that “Redactions, cuts or edits will only feed frustration and lead to further conspiracy theories.” Congressional Democrats and Wolf and his media colleagues fully intend to foster that frustration and advance the narrative. They have no choice because none of them have the courage or humility to admit that they spend two years creating and promoting a completely unfounded conspiracy theory.
There are several subtle deceptions in Wolf’s article, one of which is his claim that “we” know it is true that “Trump campaign officials had contact with Russians and that they benefited from Russia’s actions.” While they did indeed have contact with Russians, there is not a shred of evidence that the Trump campaign benefited from “Russia’s actions” in any way.
Don’t Trust the Media? Perhaps It’s Your Fault
Now that the special counsel investigation has closed without uncovering evidence of collusion, conspiracy, or cooperation with the Russians, these Democrats and their propagandists are scrambling to save face by insisting that the Mueller report contains incriminating evidence the attorney general is attempting to hide. The man-child Eric Swalwell (D-CA), Adam Schiff (D-CA), and several other Democrats – including hopeless presidential hopeful Robert Francis O’Rourke – are still insisting that evidence of collusion between Trump and the Russians is plentiful and conclusive. They know that they can get away with saying this because they know very few Americans will read the report when it comes out.
This all speaks to the larger issue of news media bias and dishonesty and the ability of politicians to so easily lie to the American people. To a large extent, the latter have only themselves to blame. When they know that most people will never seek out the facts for themselves, politicians, dishonest journalists, and political operatives feel as though they have a blank check to feed the public whatever story they know will advance their respective agendas.
A growing number of people distrust the media and politicians, of course, have generally never been trusted. This situation will only be corrected when concerned citizens decide they care enough to seek out the original sources and documentation behind the claims they distrust. At least until election day in November 2020, the left-wing media and the Democrats in Congress will insist that the Mueller Report does, in fact, contain proof of collusion and that the president obstructed justice. They are relying on the fact that the Report will go unread. So, dear America, please read the whole report for yourself when it comes out.
