Two years ago, Donald Trump emphatically showed conservatives of all stripes that you don’t win battles by letting your opposition define the terms of debate. Yet here we are just days before the crucial midterm elections, and we have the man who wants to be the next GOP speaker of the House and the supposed leading conservative TV news network bending the knee to leftist political framing.
The globalist, so-called mainstream media, who serve an agenda that is further removed from the lives of most Americans with each passing day, have decreed that any criticism whatsoever of leftist billionaires George Soros, Michael Bloomberg, or Tom Steyer is anti-Semitic and inappropriate. It is immediately noticeable, of course, that the outlets pushing this absolutist declaration just so happen to be made up of figures who enthusiastically support their efforts to spread a progressive agenda in America and abroad. And, naturally, there is no mention made of that — or of how the Democratic Party’s leadership seems so comfortable with openly anti-Semitic leftists like Louis Farrakhan and Linda Sarsour.
Feeding the Narrative
There is no reason at all to take this sweeping pronouncement seriously. House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) did just that, however. McCarthy posted a perfectly reasonable tweet on Oct. 23: “We cannot allow Soros, [Tom] Steyer, and [Michael] Bloomberg to BUY this election.”
All three men named are particularly active billionaire donors to progressive causes. Beyond that easily verifiable fact, politicians have been claiming that big-money donors to their opposition were trying to buy elections for as long as elections have existed. Yet it only took one day for McCarthy to cave to the pressure and delete his tweet in the wake of a suspicious package sent to Soros. By doing so, he flat-out invited the extended criticism that came his way.
After the murders of 11 people at a Pittsburgh synagogue on Oct. 27, and as the pipe bomber story was still garnering massive media attention, Steyer asserted in an interview with the laughably partisan CNN that the tweet was “straight-up anti-Semitic,” as all three donors are of Jewish descent. The media widely reported on the tweet’s deletion, and McCarthy allowed progressives to run with a contrived narrative, emboldened by his timidity.
Not to be outdone, Fox News banned Judicial Watch Director of Investigations & Research Chris Farrell from its networks for stating that Soros was funding the migrant caravan marching from Honduras and Guatemala toward the U.S.[perfectpullquote align=”left” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=”24″]Soros’ people openly declare that they’re helping migrants as they march.[/perfectpullquote]
“This is criminal involvement on the part of these leftist groups,” Farrell told Lou Dobbs in an appearance on Fox Business Network. “It’s highly organized, a very sophisticated organization…. A lot of these folks also have affiliates who are getting money from the Soros-occupied State Department.”
It’s up to viewers to decide if Fox News banned Farrell out of cowardice or because they just so happen to be globalists themselves.
Facts Don’t Matter
“We condemn the rhetoric by the guest on ‘Lou Dobbs Tonight,'” Fox Business senior vice president of programming Gary Schreier said in a statement. Indeed, one has to wonder where Farrell got his crazy conspiracy theories about Soros funding migration movements. Maybe it was from George Soros personally pledging half a billion dollars to do that very thing?
In a 2016 article in The Wall Street Journal re-posted on the official George Soros website, the billionaire mega-donor wrote that he had “decided to earmark $500 million for investments that specifically address the needs of migrants, refugees and host communities.”
On Soros’ Open Society Foundations website, his activist organization declares that it “seeks to address systemic exploitation, discrimination, and violence against migrants at every stage of their journey.”
Soros’ people openly declare that they’re helping migrants as they march.
Perhaps it was that “Soros-occupied State Department” line that got to Fox News? If so, their own website should be facing stern disciplinary action for reporting Judicial Watch’s findings on that very issue as straight news. “Obama State Dept used taxpayer dollars to fund George Soros group’s political activities in Albania, watchdog group says,” read the headline on an article written by Fox News reporter Brooke Singman on April 4. And you better ban a bunch of well-known Republican senators, including Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Mike Lee (R-UT), for calling for an investigation of Soros’ sway at the State Department in 2017, as Fox News also duly reported at the time.
Of course, the big-wigs at Fox cared nothing about all this when it made its knee-jerk reaction. They saw a moment to virtue signal in the face of a growing media narrative and jumped in with both feet.
Exhibiting Strength
Contrast the McCarthy and Fox reactions to those of Trump. The man who overcame the most vicious personal assault on an American presidential candidate in the history of this nation knows you don’t show weakness to a howling mob.
Steyer, who has heavily funded a campaign to impeach the president, told CNN that a “corrupt” Trump is “absolutely” responsible for spawning an “atmosphere” of “political violence” in the country. Trump was anything but timid in his reply, calling “wacky” Steyer a “crazed & stumbling lunatic.”
Just watched Wacky Tom Steyer, who I have not seen in action before, be interviewed by @jaketapper. He comes off as a crazed & stumbling lunatic who should be running out of money pretty soon. As bad as their field is, if he is running for President, the Dems will eat him alive!

That’s how you respond to partisan broadsides.
Leftist cries of anti-Semitism are nothing new, of course. Democrats hurled them at Trump in 2016. They didn’t work then, and there is no reason to believe they will now. Disgraced former senator Al Franken (D-MN), who resigned from office Jan. 2 after sexual misconduct allegations, went so far as to compare Trump’s final political ad of the campaign to the notorious anti-Semitic tract “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion.”
Franken called the anti-globalist ad “a German Shepherd whistle” appealing to “some of the worst elements in our country as a closing argument.”
A few days later, Trump won the election.
Now here we are a few days before the midterm elections and progressives are at it again. Funny how that works.
