A courageous Chinese virologist escaped communist Hong Kong by the skin of her teeth to tell an alarming story about her country’s cover-up of COVID-19. It is a tale right out of a Vince Flynn novel – only it is not fiction. Now on American soil, Li-Meng Yan risked it all to reveal the truth – the who, what, where, and when of a virus that has rocked the U.S. and the world. It is a chilling account.
An exclusive Fox News interview describes how Ms. Yan managed to escape the communist authorities to tell her story:
“Hours before she boarded an April 28 Cathay Pacific flight to the United States, the respected doctor who specialized in virology and immunology at the Hong Kong School of Public Health had plotted her escape, packing her bag and sneaking past the censors and video cameras on campus. She had her passport and her purse and was about to leave all of her loved ones behind. If she was caught, she knew she could be thrown in jail – or, worse, rendered one of the ‘disappeared.'”
China Repeatedly Denied a Cover-Up
Yan implicated her supervisors in the Coronavirus cover-up and declared that they ignored research that could have saved thousands of lives. The Chinese government, says Yan, knew about COVID-19 long before it went public. The Chinese have repeatedly denied a cover-up.
In April 2020, for instance, China’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian held a news conference and remarked: “[T]here has never been any cover-up, and we do not allow cover-ups.” However, President Trump was not drinking the Kool-Aid. As The Economic Times on July 5 reported: “‘ China’s secrecy, deception, and cover-up allowed [the virus] to spread all over the world, 189 countries and China must be held fully accountable,’ he said, once again accusing Beijing of covering up the outbreak of the pandemic.”
Liberty Nation‘s Managing Editor Mark Angelides, lived and worked in China for over a decade. He was not surprised by Yan’s story:
“We knew something like this was coming, as Taiwan had already tried to inform the WHO of human to human transmission well in advance (which DG Tedros ignored), and it seems Chinese scientists were already studying COVID-19 impact before letting the rest of the world know. With doctors who didn’t follow the government narrative ‘disappearing,’ and the WHO running cover for the CCP, it was only a matter of time before someone took the risk and came forward.”
Yes, the World Health Organization is knee-deep in this cover-up as well. Yan pointed the finger at the WHO, telling Fox: “[T]he co-director of a WHO-affiliated lab, Professor Malik Peiris, knew but didn’t do anything about it.”
The Bravery of a Real Whistleblower
This is one brave lady. Risk it all, she did. Even though Ms. Yan is in an undisclosed location on U.S. soil, she says she still fears for her life. Yet the virologist says it was worth it because someone needed to step forward and tell the truth. That someone deep in the bowels of a virology lab in Honk Kong would make it out alive is a miracle in itself. That she would blow the whistle on the communists who could have done something to prevent thousands of people from dying is genuinely remarkable.
With the proverbial cat out of the bag and an irrefutable eyewitness account of a Chinese cover-up – with the WHO aiding and abetting – it will be fascinating to see how the Chinese spin their way out of this one. But lest we forget, this is not a Chinese virus – no, no, that would be very impolitic of us to utter that phrase.
