CA Politician and History Teacher Calls Soldiers Dumbshits

by | Feb 1, 2018 | Military Affairs

A city councilman and history teacher boldly told his students that members of the military are “dumbshits” and that they are “the freaking lowest of our low.”  California councilman for the city of Pico Rivera, Gregory Salcido, whose job is to represent his constituents and instruct our youth, is instead telling everyone the military is a piece of crud and that service members are idiots. And his offensive words were caught on video:

“We’ve got a bunch of dumbshits over there. Think about the people who you know who are over there — your freaking stupid uncle Louis or whatever, they’re dumbshits. They’re not, like, high-level thinkers, they’re not academic people, they’re not intellectual people, they’re the freaking lowest of our low. Not morally, I’m not saying they make bad moral decisions, they’re not talented people.”

The well-informed Salcido (and I say this with heavy sarcasm) went on to criticize the military, saying: “It’s a lie that our military is freaking bitchin.”  It isn’t anything to be proud of, he claimed, adding that we haven’t won a single war since World War II. “We couldn’t beat the Vietnamese,” he said, and “they’re a bunch of people this freaking big throwing rice at us.”

Were there any Vietnamese students in the classroom when he went on his tirade? Where are all the liberals denouncing this idiot in the name of our military, and of Vietnamese people everywhere?

Salcido wasn’t finished. Next, he condemned students who considered going into the military, even suggested the reason for enlisting was because they weren’t loved enough by their parents:

“So, you join the military because just [because] you had no other options,” he said. “Because you didn’t take care of business academically. Because your parents didn’t love you enough to push you. And then you didn’t love yourself enough.”

The city’s website lists Salcido’s accomplishments, and military service isn’t one of them. How’s that for a surprise? According to his biography, the liberal was first elected in 1999, served three terms as mayor, and is currently still on the board as a councilmember. He teaches his pearls of wisdom at his former school, El Rancho High School.

We get it; Salcido firmly believes in education. However, he is heard on the video telling his students that going into the military to receive a better education is not worth it. That those who choose this path are not real students – whatever that is supposed to mean.

His bachelor’s in history must have blinded him to current events and how insulting a race (such as the Vietnamese) isn’t tolerated – at least not when the slight comes from a conservative, that is.

Just look at this message from Salcido’s biography:

Councilman Salcido credits his students for being a constant reminder that keeping a positive and optimistic disposition is necessary for a productive future.

Where was this councilman and teacher’s “positive and optimistic disposition” while teaching his class about a “productive future?” Where was it in 2012 when he slapped a 15-year-old boy on the back of the head during class for not paying attention?

“When I smacked him on the back of his head and said, ‘Pick up your head and pay attention,’ he didn’t say, ‘Ouch,’” Salcido said.

Why is this man even still serving as a councilman and teaching impressionable youth?
