With a recount of ballots almost complete in the GOP’s Pennsylvania primary race between David McCormick and Trump-endorsed Dr. Mehmet Oz, McCormick conceded to Oz Friday evening. “It’s now clear to me, with the recount largely complete, that we have a nominee,” McCormick told his supporters. “And today, I called Mehmet Oz to congratulate him on his victory, and I told him what I always said to you, that I will do my part to try to unite Republicans and Pennsylvanians behind his candidacy, behind his nomination for the Senate.”
McCormick’s campaign is ending a legal challenge aimed at forcing a count of updated mail-in ballots. Reports suggest those remaining ballots – about 800 – would not have been enough to make a difference.
Oz will now face Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman (D) in November for one of the state’s US Senate seats.
