Late on Saturday, news broke that the Department of Justice conducted a 12-hour search of Joe Biden’s Wilmington, DE home on Jan. 20. During the operation, six documents with classified markings were recovered, according to reports. Neither Joe nor Jill Biden was on the premises during the search, according to White House Counsel Richard Sauber.
According to a statement by Mr. Biden’s personal attorney, Bob Bauer, released Saturday evening, the DOJ seized “materials it deemed within the scope of its inquiry, including six items consisting of documents with classification markings and surrounding materials, some of which were from the President’s service in the Senate and some of which were from his tenure as Vice President.”
Previously, attorneys for Mr. Biden had found classified materials at his former Penn Biden Center office in Washington, DC, and in the garage and one room of his Delaware house.
Attorney General Merrick Garland has already appointed a special counsel to investigate the matter, which has become a major embarrassment for Biden, who excoriated former President Donald Trump for retaining classified documents from his term in office.
