Say What is the segment of Liberty Nation Radio where we unveil some of the most wacky, astonishing and damnable things uttered by politicians and the chattering class. Here is the latest episode:
Chuck Grassley: I welcome everyone to this confirmation hearing on the nomination of …
Sen Kamala Harris (D-CA): Mr. Chairman?
Chuck Grassley: … Judge Brent Kavanaugh.
Kamala Harris: Mr. Chairman?
Chuck Grassley: To serve as associate justice-
Kamala Harris: Mr. Chairman, I’d like-
Chuck Grassley: … on the Supreme Court of the United States.
Kamala Harris: … to be recognized for a question before we proceed.
Tim Donner: It was exactly five seconds and 12 words after the opening gavel, when the newest certified member of The Resistance in the U.S. Senate, Kamala Harris of California, laid down the first marker in the soft opening, or soft launch of her imminent presidential campaign. Using the Senate Chamber to signal her virtue by refusing to allow the Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley to finish his first sentence and using the pretext of documents withheld by sneaky Republicans from Brett Kavanaugh’s time working for President George W. Bush. But wait, that’s not all. There were also those pesky protesters shouting from the gallery as the senators and Judge Kavanaugh spoke.
Judge Kavanaugh: … racism like this is like letting a loaded weapon lie around. Forget …
Protester: (blood-curdling scream).
Judge Kavanaugh: …. Dissents against President Roosevelt’s decision.
Protester: (more blood-curdling screams)
Judge Kavanaugh: … Justice Jackson’s (amid yet more blood-curdling screams)
Kamala Harris: Ask him to suspend…. (crosstalk)
Tim: So, who were these dozens of rude protestors who made a spectacle of themselves? Listen to a guy who waited in line with some of them to attend the hearing.
Person in line for hearing: There were people that had come along and had a bag of money, and the people would hand them a piece of paper, and then they would give them money. So, we knew that money was being exchanged for some of the people to be here, just to protest. There was no depth to what their understanding was or anything, and they were actually told, we heard them say this and instruct them, “When you go in, we want you to yell, to scream, and even to possibly get arrested.”
Tim: So, knowing they have no chance of stopping one of the most highly qualified candidates ever nominated to the Supreme Court, the Democrats have decided to go down guns a blazing, scorched earth. Hoping against hope they might somehow unearth evidence that Judge Kavanaugh is in some way, shape or form a white supremacist, just like the president who nominated him. And in furtherance of the Resistance mission to remove Trump by any means which present themselves, the distinguished congressman from Illinois, Luis Gutierrez, took to the floor of the US House and spoke of a letter he wrote to the president.
Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL): Mr. President, it is time for you to resign the office of the presidency for the good of the United States and her people. For decades, the president led a vast criminal enterprise that went on to engage in criminal activity during the 2016 campaign for the White House, and engaged in criminal activity since taking the office of president.
Tim: Okay. If you can’t beat him, impeach him or run him out of town on a rail, or maybe execute him at high noon.
All of this against the backdrop of a new explosive book by Bob Woodward of Watergate fame depicting an out of control White House presided over by a man clearly unfit for office. Why, just listen to the ultimate paragon of establishment sensibilities, Mr. Establishment himself, the man with no discernible ideology other than the need to continue appearing on national TV, David Gergen on, where else, CNN. Delivering all the caveats about the book and author whose assertions were vehemently denied by White House Chief of Staff, John Kelly, and Defense Secretary James Mattis, among others.
David Gergen: It’s true that on a number of his books there have been questions and people have refuted and said, “No, I never said that” and so forth. But you look at the series of books, he has enormous credibility coming out of this series of books. Every single book that he has written to the best of my recollection has been proven in its essence. Yes, there were some details that he may have gotten wrong, or something may have been mistold to him, but his credibility is extremely high. We should not be questioning Bob Woodward’s credibility. We should be questioning what’s in the book. What’s in the book is a portrait of a guy who suddenly, once again, in a very serious way, revives questions about his fitness for office.
Tim: He may have gotten some facts wrong, but no matter, he’s writing what we all want to read, so the myriad denials by people quoted in the book are irrelevant. So this is the road the left is taking this week: Trump’s fitness for office, as the establishment and the left try one of their greatest hits on for size, the 25th Amendment, which outlines how a president could be removed from office essentially because he’s crazy. But Woodward’s Watergate partner, Carl Bernstein, who’s amounted to nothing in the last four decades since Watergate but a perpetually irritated talking head on the counterfeit news network – that’s CNN – says the book is … deeply, deeply troubling.
Carl Bernstein: Now we have a coherent, indisputable narrative that is absolutely chilling in the following way. The people closest to the President of the United States, in his White House, and in his administration are saying they see their job as protecting the United States from the President of the United States. That he is a danger to the republic.
Tim: Yes sir, a danger to the republic. Never mind an economy firing on all cylinders and four million new jobs, unemployment numbers reaching all-time lows in almost every demographic group, pay those actual facts no mind.
But, as usual, we saved the best for last: The once-respectable legal commentator now suffering an ever more severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome, Jeffrey Toobin on – where else – CNN, saying Trump’s beatdown on the masked, neo-fascist thugs of the ironically named Antifa just proves he’s a white supremacist.
Jeffrey Toobin: Let’s be clear also about what’s going on here. The theme here is I’m Donald Trump and I’ll protect you from the scary black people. Antifa is widely perceived as an African American organization, and this is just part of the same story of Lebron James, and Don Lemon, and Maxine Waters, and the NFL players, and the UCLA basketball players. This is about black versus white. This is about Donald Trump’s appeal to racism.
Tim: The little problem with that narrative is that Antifa is almost entirely … WHITE. All the Antifa members who’ve had their cowardly masks removed after they beat people bloody, or smashed cars, or vandalized neighborhoods, are all WHITE.
Seeing this rapid mental deterioration of the previously respectable Jeffrey Toobin is, in the words of president Trump himself, SAD.
