Will Democrats seek to remove the filibuster in order to codify Roe v. Wade into law?
Result: 86% yes and 14% no
To say the Dems were upset to realize the Supreme Court might hand over abortion regulation to the states would be an understatement. But are they willing to give up the filibuster in order to keep federal jurisdiction? Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) seems to think it would be worth it, saying:
“Congress must pass legislation that codifies Roe v. Wade as the law of the land in this country NOW. And if there aren’t 60 votes in the Senate to do it, and there are not, we must end the filibuster to pass it with 50 votes.”
While the left bemoans the possibility of the law change, the right is outraged that such a breach of confidentiality at the Court could have even happened, with the draft opinion released in a leak. Both sides, however, are throwing the blame on each other, and using this as an opportunity to fish for votes in the upcoming midterm elections.
Will Joe Biden seek to reform Section 230 in the wake of Elon Musk buying Twitter?
Result: 78% yes, 5% no, and 16% don’t know
Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act states: “No provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider.” As it currently stands, Big Tech media platforms aren’t held responsible for what third parties post on their sites. However, we’ve seen how Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube have taken censoring to a new level which has caused an uproar among conservatives.
Biden has already considered modifying Section 230 as a means to crack down on supposed COVID misinformation on social media, but backed off after strong criticism against the government monitoring speech online. Now, however, Elon Musk has acquired Twitter and Liberty Nation readers believe the president will once again try to reform Section 230. The question is, how? Will the Dems try to revive Biden’s attempt to control and censor the platforms? Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) commented:
“The Biden administration believes in power. They want to have the power to silence you. They want to have the power to silence any criticism. I’ve got to admit, for a politician, if you could have all your critics simply disappear and unable to criticize you, that might be pretty nice. But it’s contrary to the Constitution. It’s contrary to the First Amendment. It’s contrary to a free democracy. But the Biden administration is getting Big Tech to be the arm in silencing critics. And by the way, what they call misinformation very conveniently always benefits Democrats, always benefits Joe Biden.”

Who will run for president in the 2024 elections? There has been a lot of talk about who might be the GOP candidates, but not much chatter about the Democrats’ choice. Joe Biden has murmured here and there about running for re-election, but who might challenge him?
Our poll had some interesting results. A quarter of the voters believe Bernie Sanders will take another shot at winning a seat in the Oval Office, and still another 25% think Biden will run unchallenged. The Democrats are struggling with all their progressive ideas that seem to be backfiring, so it makes sense that presidential hopefuls might want to sit back and see if the tide turns before putting their necks on the line.
