Billed by national Security Adviser Jake Sullivan as a “major address,” Joe Biden spoke publicly in Poland on March 26 about the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Delivering more of a lengthy pep talk than anything else, Mr. Biden provided no new information and announced no new measures to counter Russian aggression. His message was “be not afraid,” quoting the late Pope John Paul II, a Polish national.
The US commander-in-chief warned Russian President Vladimir Putin once again not to violate NATO territory and sent a message to the Russian people that they are not the enemy.
During his time in Poland, Mr. Biden met with US troops, Ukrainian refugees, and Polish and NATO officials. He also spoke with Ukraine’s ministers of defense and foreign affairs.
