Editor’s Note: Everyone’s got an opinion, but who has the facts? At LibertyNation.com, we like to say, “Truth is Making a Comeback because Facts Matter.” So, each week, our editorial staff combs through the noise to bring you the highlights of what the president did and said.

January 6 – President Trump authorized U.S. assistance to Bolivia for fiscal year 2020 and sent 22 nominations to the Senate for confirmation Monday. Amongst the nominations were Daniel Asia of Arizona to be a Member of the National Council on the Arts, Jennifer Yue Barber of Kentucky to be Representative of the United States of America on the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations with the rank of Ambassador, and Katharine MacGregor of Pennsylvania to be Deputy Secretary of the Interior.

January 7 – The president made two more appointments to his administration Tuesday and signed the Fallen Warrior Battlefield Cross Memorial Act, which requires VA to permit the display of the “Fallen Soldier Display” in national cemeteries. He also met with Prime Minister Mitsotakis of Greece. The two leaders later gave a joint press conference and discussed, in response to questions asked by the press, the possibility of Greece eventually joining the F-35 program.

January 8 – On Wednesday, President Trump declared that an emergency exists in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and ordered Federal assistance to supplement Commonwealth and local response efforts due to the emergency conditions resulting from earthquakes beginning on December 28, 2019. He also announced the designation of a Presidential Delegation to the Republic of Guatemala to attend the Inauguration of His Excellency Alejandro Eduardo Giammattei Falla on January 14, 2020, in Guatemala City, Guatemala and nominated John Chase Johnson of Oklahoma to be the Inspector General at the Federal Communications Commission.

January 9 – President Trump sent seven nominations to the Senate for confirmation Thursday: Fernando L. Aenlle-Rocha of California to be United States District Judge for the Central District of California, Stanley Blumenfeld of California to be United States District Judge for the Central District of California, Scott J. Laurer, of Virginia, to be a Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims for the term of fifteen years, Grace Karaffa Obermann of Virginia to be a Judge of the United States Court of Federal Claims for a term of fifteen years, J. David Patterson, of Tennessee, to be a Deputy Under Secretary of Defense, Mark C. Scarsi of California to be United States District Judge for the Central District of California, and Stephen Sidney Schwartz of Virginia to be a Judge of the United States Court of Federal Claims for a term of fifteen years.

January 10 – On Friday, President Trump signed an executive order imposing new sanctions on Iran. “Iran continues to be the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism,” he wrote in the order. The sanctions will affect any individual or entity operating in the construction, manufacturing, textiles, or mining sectors of the Iranian economy or anyone assisting those who engage in this sanctioned conduct.
