The Fake Outrage of Democrats

Once again, the Democrats have pulled out their distraction playbook. This time they are putting a full court press on Americans who pay attention to dysfunction in Washington D.C. This week Dick Durbin came out to the press after meeting with President Trump. He claimed the president called the nation of Haiti a “s***hole.” The president denies making the comment but did say in a tweet that he used “tough” language. Senators Tom Cotton, and David Perdue defended Trump, saying they did not recall hearing him use that word.

We will probably never really know what was said at the meeting. The fact that Dick Durbin is the one who came out, and ran to the closest liberal media outlet is concerning. Days before attacking Trump, Durbin used the term chain migration. Now he is saying it is a painful term that “hurts people personally”. However, he used the same phrase in openly televised talks with the president over DACA and wall funding days earlier. But, hey, whatever. Right?

The Gospel of Durbin

Of course, the media embraced Durbin’s comments and ran with them as the gospel. First, it was MSNBC, then CNN, and the big three evening networks. They were calling Trump a racist. The chronically angry Luis Gutierrez was interviewed saying Trump could “lead the Ku Klux Klan.” Those are some hefty allegations against someone who has moved the economy into a position where the African-American employment rate is the lowest it’s ever been at 6.8% since recording began in 1972.

A scroll through news articles will show the numerous occasions where politicians and celebrities have called Trump racist, amongst other race bating names and phrases. But perhaps it is noticeable how fake the outrage is.

In 2010, Haiti suffered a terrible earthquake that caused widespread damage and death. The country was ill-equipped to handle the destruction on their own. The Clinton Global Initiative collected millions of dollars to provide relief for Haiti, but reports suggest that the money never made it. This caused an outcry from the Haitian government, asking for the money. They were ignored.

Hypocrisy

This scandal was ignored by Democrat politicians, celebrities, and the mainstream media as well. There was never any outcry against the Clintons. There were never any calls of racism against the Clinton’s for using the Haitian tragedy to line their own pockets with millions. The same people who are so upset now refused to acknowledge any Clinton wrongdoing. Yet they claim to care about the Haitians?

We may never truly know the exact words used by President Donald Trump. However, given the high political stakes for the Democrats, many suggest Durbin is either embellishing or outright lying.

The Democrats are putting on a show of political outrage. 2016 left them stunned. They don’t know how to react to Trump’s victory, so this is what we get. Their behavior is an acting job for cameras and reporters. If they really cared about the Haitians, a Google search would reveal Democrat politicians just as outraged years ago about the Clintons as they are now about a comment made by Trump.

In the end, this isn’t going to work. Trump isn’t a politician and treating him like one has been the wrong tactic since he announced running for president.  Let’s sit back and watch the Democrat’s “Art of the Fake Outrage” and see what happens.
