The Top Five Reasons to Vote for Your Candidate

Biden, Trump, or third-party candidate?

Whether you are a Democrat, Republican, or independent, it may be hard to navigate the jungle of information on each candidate. This article compiles the top five reasons for voting for former Vice President Joe Biden or President Donald Trump.

Reasons for Biden

  1. Biden Is Not Trump

Many people have a visceral dislike for Trump. They think that the president has embarrassed the United States and brought the country and the presidency into disrepute. You may disagree with Biden on policies, but he will surely not go wild on Twitter.

  1. First Woman President

Biden is almost 78 years old and shows signs of cognitive decline. He has described himself as a “transitional figure.” Two-thirds of Americans and nearly half of Democrats believe that Biden will not complete his first term if elected. A vote for Biden is a likely vote for Harris. If you want to see Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) as the first woman president, Biden is your man.

  1. Green New Deal

Biden has described the Green New Deal as a foundation for his climate policy. He has promised to rejoin the Paris Climate Accord on the first day of his presidency. Thus, if you are severely worried about climate change and want America to phase out fossil fuels to become carbon neutral rapidly, Biden gives the better alternative.

  1. Stricter Gun Control

Many people are worried about gun crime. Biden has said that he wants former Representative Beto O’Rourke (D-TX) to oversee gun control. During the Democratic presidential primaries, O’Rourke promised that if elected he would take away legally purchased assault rifles. Biden’s endorsement of O’Rourke signals that he will be tough on guns.

  1. Normalizing Foreign Policy

Many voters have expressed concern that Trump is causing strife and unnecessary conflict with adversaries and international trading partners. They worry he will trigger wars. Biden was instrumental in the Iran agreement brokered by President Barack Obama and has been favorable to China’s inclusion in global trade for two decades. In the past year, Biden has seriously considered the American people’s concern about China’s growing influence. He has promised to take a tougher stance on China, without Trump’s aggressive rhetoric. Biden would mean a return to the foreign policy of the Obama era.

Reasons for Trump

  1. Jobs and Economic Growth

Trump has overseen a period of strong economic growth and low unemployment, and many economists agree that his tax cuts and slashing of red tape have contributed significantly.

  1. Law and Order

Since the killing of George Floyd, America has experienced violent rioting and looting, especially in Democrat-run cities. Trump has been clear on his support for law and order, while Biden has been reluctant to condemn the violence.

  1. Energy Independence

Trump has removed a host of regulations that hampered fracking. Experts agree that this policy has rendered the United States energy independent for the first time in 75 years.

  1. The Wall

Trump promised to build a border wall between the United States and Mexico – and he has completed more than 400 miles of it.

  1. Peace Treaties

Trump has contributed to a flurry of peace treaties between Arab countries and Israel. His unconventional style and approach to negotiations have created the possibility of a full normalization in the Middle East.

Happy Voting

These are the issues that the candidates themselves have highlighted as significant, and we have highlighted the ones that distinguish one candidate from the other. If, however, you are not impressed by either Trump or Biden, third-party candidates such as Jo Jorgenson of the Libertarian Party or Howie Hawkins of the Green Party could be of interest.

No matter whom you choose to vote for, 2020 will surely go down in history as one of the most seminal presidential elections in U.S. history.
