A Sunday Sermonette for POTUS

Leesa K. Donner – Media & Culture Correspondant

Personally, I believe President Trump would be better off spending his time in some Presbyterian Pew somewhere — anywhere — on a Sunday morning. Lord knows this nation and this president could use some time before the Almighty in prayer.  But be that as it may, Mr. Trump most often seems to spend his Sunday mornings railing against the Fourth Estate, Smartphone in hand, Twitter app on overdrive.

Fresh off what most believe to be a successful trip to the Middle East, Italy, and elsewhere, it somewhat saddens me to see the president back in The Swamp and sullying himself in the mud with the leftist muckrakers. He seemed so above it all overseas, so bigger than the “anonymous sources” that constantly seem to be dogging him and forcefully following his own agenda with heads of state.

For just a brief shining moment we could forget the Russia-Hillary-Comey conspiracy nonsense and focus on people and places far away: a true breath of fresh, albeit foreign air.  It was also nice to see others show not only some respect for our president but a little deference as well.

But back in The Swamp it seems the president could not help himself from engaging The Swamp Dwellers:

Unlike most on the left, center and right, here at Liberty Nation, we do not decry the president’s use of Twitter and have written extensively about its positive attributes. Yet as Kohelet (the pseudonym for the author) of Ecclesiastes, “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven…” And this seems like an opportune time for a presidential reset. It’s time to put the craziness of unnamed source reporting behind him and get on with his agenda. By doing this he will not only move forward with his America First doctrine, he will duct tape the media to their own narrative – alone and drifting aimlessly toward a populace who no longer believe them and largely disregard them.

There is one thing, no two, that the elite establishment media cannot stand: one – an inability to control the dialogue and two – to be irrelevant. So, the question must be asked: does President Trump have the self-control to ignore the media?  He certainly has the power, but he must harness the self-control to do so. For this, of all things will render the media powerless.

So, it seems that this Sunday, despite his inability to gather himself up and squeeze into a pew, a sermonette is in order for the president:

“Do not answer a fool according to his folly, Or you will also be like him.” (Proverbs 26:4)
