Melania Trump recited the Lord’s Prayer at a rally at the Orlando-Melbourne Airport in Florida this weekend, and you’d think she committed the Unpardonable Sin. For those unfamiliar with Christian doctrine, the Unpardonable Sin is to blaspheme the Holy Spirit. The reaction to this lovely, heartfelt recitation of a prayer said by millions of Americans – not to mention many more around the world – makes one wonder if the United States has lost all civility.
Attacks from those on the left ranged from a personal affront to the President’s wife saying a Christian prayer to personal attacks on the woman. Think I’m exaggerating? Check this tweet out:

The venom against the nation’s new First Lady poured down from leftist buckets like the “burning sulfur raining down on Sodom and Gomorrah” found in Genesis, chapter 19.

At least this time Melania plagerzed [sic] the Lord’s Prayer from the Bible instead of Michelle Obama. #TrumpRally,” @ParaComedian09 wrote.
Of course, they couldn’t resist a swipe at the President while they were at it:
Trump is still there, so Melania’s prayer didn’t work,” @GerryDuggan wrote.
Of course, there had to be one regarding the classic leftist nonsense about the separation of church and state:
Melania starts the dictatorship rally with the Lord’s Prayer? NOT EVERY AMERICAN IS CHRISTIAN!!!! Country over party,” tweeted @JaimePrimak.
The contemptuous, scornful left ripped into her by mocking her accent, her religion and everything in between.
It is nothing short of shameful and disgraceful to treat a First Lady – any First Lady – with such reprehensible statements. It seems every time this lovely, and from those who know her, kind and generous woman opens her mouth, those who detest her husband cannot prevent themselves from engaging in appalling conduct. And it appears these nasty critics were tone deaf to the fact that the thousands of people at the rally appreciated Mrs. Trump by joining in the prayer and following it with thunderous applause.
The question must be asked: As a nation, have we lost any modicum of civility?
Perhaps only the ancient Greek Philosopher Aristotle could put such savage behavior in perspective when he said, “…nor was civil society founded merely to preserve the lives of its members; but that they might live well: for otherwise a state might be composed of slaves, or the animal creation…”
And so, the obvious take-away from Aristotle’s brilliance is that these people – like so many on the left – are slaves to their sick ideology and have become nothing more than predatory animals.
