Kagan: Government Has Unlimited Power

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

During confirmation hearings, Senator Tom Coburn nailed Supreme Court nominee Elena Kegan with a zinger about the Commerce Clause in the U.S. Constitution. Realizing that Coburn was subtly referring to recently passed Health Care reform, in which American will be forced to health insurance, she couldn’t answer his question directly. Instead she mocked him and sidestepped the question.

The commerce clause {Article 1 Section 8} language reads:

Congress shall have power…to regulate commerce with foreign nations, and among the several states.

A cursory reading of the Federalist Papers and a basic understanding of 18th century economics makes it clear that the founders were referring to interstate tariff disputes, and in no way gives the federal government carte blanche authority to regulate anything it darn well pleases. If that were the case, why have a constitution in the first place?

Kagan is an elitist tyrant, which makes her the perfect pick for the Obama administration.

In questions of power, let no more be heard of confidence in man – but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution.

Christian Persecution in Muslim-controlled Dearborn

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

If you have any travel plans to Dearborn, Michigan, beware that the area is apparently under islamic Shari’a Law. Dearborn, birthplace of the American automobile,  contains the most dense population of muslims in the United States.

Recently, Christian missionaries for arrested for the heinous crime of handing out Christian literature in a public area during a muslim festival.  By amazing coincidence, the Dearborn chief of police is an Arab.  The police used the nebulous “breeching the peace” as a criminal charge.  Standing passively in a public place and distributing literature is a first-amendment right in America.  Imagine the outrage if La Raza protesters in Arizona we charged with “breeching the peace” as they rallied for lawlessness.  ”Breeching the peace” is a convenient sledgehammer in the arsenal of law enforcement as politically incorrect speech is silenced.

Fortunately, the group is being defended by the Christian-based Thomas Moore Law Center, and the case will doubtless reach the federal judiciary.  However, one must wonder if the United States will follow in the footsteps of Great Britain, where Shari’a Law is literally practiced on a micro scale in small communities?  Islam has traditionally conquered by the sword.  However, in America, they have found greater success through taking advantage of our secular and politically correct culture.

The alien who is among you shall rise above you higher and higher, but you will go down lower and lower.
…he shall be the head, and you will be the tail.

So all these curses shall come on you and pursue you and overtake you until you are destroyed,
because you would not obey the LORD your God by keeping His commandments and His statutes which He commanded you.

Deut. 28:43-45

Libertarians Bashing Memorial Day

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.

Proverbs 22:28

On a normally reasonable website, Lew Rockwell today has a disappointing post lamenting the celebration of Memorial Day.  Furthermore, the author offers the sophomoric suggestion of celebrating the last Monday in May by watching (mostly) vulgar, leftist, and godless anti-war movies.  This type of nonsense accomplishes nothing except needlessly offending people.

Is it not possible to debate U.S. foreign policy without disparaging the memories of dead veterans?  This is not academic. There are real families who have lost real family members in war – some of very recently.  There are real families who have real family members currently serving in war zones right now. It”s not as if the average American soldier is bloodthirsty mercenary who enjoys killing and looting for pay.

Would Mr. Shaffer have the courage to spew his vitriol in the face of parents who have lost a son in Iraq or Afghanistan?  Since the specter of parades and wreath-laying is too repulsive for him, maybe he should take a bullhorn down his local VFW today and let loose a tirade about excess American imperialism. It is a sad indictment when the leftist Huffington Post is more respectful of Memorial Day than Lew Rockwell – or the U.S. President for that matter.
